RULES

RULES FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE “THEAGENIOS ULTRA MARATHON”RACE 100 and 20km

Rule 1

This is a ultramarathon running race with totaly distance104 klm in asphalt & dirt road around the island Thassos. In in the last 20 klm. the aforementioned race is carried out smaller road race.  The start and the finish line from the 104 klm race is the hotel  AEOLIS THASSOS PALACE in the village ASTRIS. Start time set at 07:00 in the morning. The 20km start will be given  in SKALA MARIES with an end point the hotel  AEOLIS THASSOS PALACE in the village ASTRIS. Start time set at 13.00 in the noon the same day as the ultra race. Time limit for the ultra race is 15 hours with closing time 22.00 in the night, time limit for the 20 klm is 4 hours  with closing time 17.00 in the same day evening.
Rule 2
Applications for participation by athletes must be received no later than 29/2/2020 or until the extension date  otherwise they will not be accepted.
Rule 3
Athletes are obliged to present themselves for confirmation at the starting point of the race on time. Late arrival may result in exclusion. It is necessary also  the physical presence in the registration area for collecting the race bib number.
Rule 4
The participants must present a medical certificate, which will declare that their physical condition and their health allows them to run ultra races. The certificate must have been issued not more than 6 months before the races.
Rule 5
The athletes participate in the race to their own responsibility. They declare that they have no claim whatsoever on behalf on the organizers and the association related to it, for any damage or injury to their health during the race after it, or for any other unforeseen event that might occur to them.
Also the athletes must understand that the medical facilities offered CANNOT be available at all points of the course or at all times during the race.
Rule 6
Athletes, for the 104km race, can leave one drop bag in the registration office.  The drop bag will be transported to them in the central station approximately in middle of the race.
Rule 7
After the termination time limit of 15 hours (or 4 hours) or  has been ruled out  from the race, the athlete continues the race if he wants, with his own responsibility and the race organizers  bear no responsibility
Rule 8
For their safety athletes will run on the left side of the road facing oncoming traffic. If considered necessary by the race responsible the route may be changed to the right of the road. There will be also marks on the road for the right direction.
Rule 9
Is permissible for the foreigner athletes to put on their flag or emblem of their country.
Rule 10
Athletes must display plainly on the chest or the back the race number.
Rule 11
Athletes can use their sponsors or clubs messages on their uniforms.
Rule 12
Athletes must display their race number in every check point or in the race.
Rule 13
Athletes are allowed to receive assistance from their supporters only at the c.p. stations. Αs well as running followed by vehicle, bicycle, or person foreign to the race  except those responsible for the race.  During the CPs NO ASSISTANCE can be offered elsewhere on the route. If someone get caught more than 2 times to get help out from the Cps will be excluded from the race.
Rule 14
Any escorts who are  following the runners with car allowed to see their athletes only in Cps. Support vehicles must not move at the speed of the athlete. This will be considered as improver assistance and the athlete  will excluded. Athletes are strictly forbidden to board any vehicle along the route for any reason whatsoever upon penalty disqualification.
Violation of the race rules by supporters results in qualification of the athlete concerned.
Rule 15
For the whole of the route, for reasons of safety and security movement of support vehicles must be slow and careful. Specially during the night all vehicles must have on alarms.
Rule 16
Athletes must follow the designated route of the race. If for any reason whatsoever the athletes leaves the designated route, he/she is obliged to return to the point he/she left the designated route, otherwise only the race official can transport the athlete to the right route.
Rule 17
Athletes wishing to retire from the race must hand over their race number to a race official.
Rule 18
Any athlete that withdraws from the race, must not remain on the course but must be conveyed in transport provided to the starting point of the race (hotel AEOLIS).
Rule 19
Athletes must pass the CPs before the closing times specified.
Rule 20
Athletes who will run the 100km race will be having a different color bib. Number from the 20km runners.
Rule 21
For reasons of safety and awareness, athletes are not allowed to carry portable radios, MP3 or similar music devices.
Rule 22
All athletes and their supporters must have full knowledge of the rules .The athletes and their supporters are obliged to ask for clarification of any points in doubt from any of the race officials.
Rule 23
Athletes and their supporters must protect the environment from any form of pollution.
Rule 24
Athletes using forbidden substances (doping) will not be allowed participate in the races.
Rule 25
The Cps may be relocated without prior announcement if unforeseen circumstances make this necessary, such as road works, accident, bad weather, etc.
Rule 26
Athletes are obliged to display observance of the Olympic spirit at all times. They have to be kind to the other athletes and to the organizing committee.
Rule 27
Athletes completing the course are obliged to be present at all the celebrations and public events following termination of the race. 
Rule 28
In the event of circumstances not being covered by these rules , disputes or other objections will be settled on the spot by officials of the organizing committee.
Rule 29
The publication of the results is completely competence of the organizers, also the photos and videos of the race.
Rule 30
Athletes may be eliminated from the race for the following reasons:

  • not observing the rules of the race
  • not passing a CP within the time specified.
  • If considered by the medical team to be incapable of completing the course.

Rule 31
The organizers have the right for any change about the race if this will be necessary (change of the date of the race, chance of the start time, of the Cps) even cancellation for a very serious reason.
